7 weeks old...

Scout is growing so fast!!! I really do want to freeze time sometimes. I just love her so much and she is starting to get more personality every day. I think she is going to  be pretty feisty. She definitely knows what she wants and when she wants it. She won't sit in a wet diaper for more than five minutes so that keeps us very busy! She also fights sleep a lot. At night she gets real aggravated because she is so sleepy but doesn't want to go to sleep. :) She loves her bath at night now...I think she would sit in her bath for as long as we would let her. She has discovered her reflection in the mirror and will stare at herself for a long time. She has also started smiling a lot...especially in the mornings and every time I see her smile my heart just melts...I love it! She loves to have her cheeks kissed which is good because I kiss them a lot! Over all she is doing really well and I am loving being a Mommy. It's not an easy job...but it is so worth it! Every time I look at her I fall more in love with her!
Labor Day weekend was good. On Saturday we went to Aunt Mandi's to watch the Longhorns play and Scout got to meet baby Jordan, her birthday twin. Jordan is Meri and Adam's baby boy and he was born about an hour after Scout. Adam and Kris have been really good friends since college so it's pretty neat that they had babies born on the same day. We got lots of really cute pictures! Sunday we went to church and then Me, Kris, Kamden, April, and Ryan went to play TopGolf in Dallas and had a lot of fun! The weather felt awesome!  On Saturday morning my Great-Aunt Martha "Bobbie" Grimes passed away. She was one of the sweetest ladies ever! She always had nice things to say and she was a very spunky lady :) Up until recently she still lived at home by herself. My Uncle Raymond passed away many years ago. She had been living with her son for the last several months because she got sick and then fell a while back and just never recovered from it. I will always remember her sweet face and sweet smile. When we took Scout to TN a few weeks ago I had planned to take her to see Aunt Bobbie but the day we were going to go it was pouring down rain so I figured I would take her when we are back in a couple of weeks. I really wanted to get her picture made with her Great Great Aunt! Now I will never get that chance. I so wish we would have made it to see her while we had the chance. I will never forgive myself for that. She is in Heaven now though and not in any pain.  I have been so blessed to have many great women in my life. I had two Great-Grandmothers up until I was 22 years old...they died in the same year. Both were wonderful Christian women and had a lot of personality! Two years after they died my Great-Grandfather died on Christmas Day. That was his favorite day of the year and we would always go over to his house Christmas morning with my Dad's family and spend time with him. The morning he died his daughter found him on the front porch in his Christmas tie and suspenders he always wore on Christmas Day. He was also a wonderful man and I am so grateful we had him for so many years and he never slowed down :) Most people don't get to know many "Greats" so I feel blessed to have had the chance. I am also thankful that Scout has four Great-Grandmothers and three Great-Grandfathers!!! That is wonderful and not exactly the norm these days...I am very thankful she has them in her life and they have all gotten to meet her. Anyway...just wanted to share that. Rest in Peace Aunt Bobbie!
Below are some recent pictures I thought I would share.I have a really cute video of Scout smiling in her crib but I am having trouble getting it to upload. I will keep trying... Hope everyone is having a great week so far despite all the rain! :)

TENNESSEE

TENNESSEE

I finally finished my blog that I started four days ago! It's a long one :) Probably a lot of irrelevant information...but one day I will look back and have these memories to read about. Also it is impossible to talk to everyone on the phone so blogging is much easier! :)

We are driving back from Tennessee as I type this. It is always so hard for me to leave and now that we have Scout I think it is even harder. I so wish I could see my family and friends more often! We had a great time while we were there. Cailyn Scout got to meet a lot of family and a lot of other babies. Of course I took like a million pictures too!
Kris, Scout, Knox, and I drove to Memphis on Thursday night the 12th and stopped to stay the night with our friends Kevin and Becky. This helped break up the trip a bit. Thanks to Kev and Beck for letting us crash so late !!! Then on Friday we drove in to Centerville, TN!!! I always get such a good feeling when we turn off the interstate and head towards Centerville. It’s about a 15 minute drive off the highway before you get in to town of nothing but rolling green hills! I didn’t always appreciate how pretty Centerville actually is when I lived there…but it really is a pretty area of Tennessee…especially outside of the town where there are only farms and green...green as far as you can see!!!!! When we got to my parents house we were met with open arms (literally) and it wasn’t long before other family came over. My cousin Andrew was leaving for college at UT the next day so I was happy he got to come over and spend several hours with us before heading to Knoxville. Mom fixed us an awesome dinner…we ate way too much…and spent the night catching up and passing around the baby. (I don’t think I held her at all for like 5 hours). I was so excited to see my nephews! I was excited to see everyone…but kids grow SO fast and I had not seen them in over 4 months. Cameron is talking a lot more and had a blast playing with Knox. He is actually very sweet to the babies so far so that’s good. Aden has grown so much and is the happiest baby ever! Seriously…he is so goofy….smiles constantly!!! I loved getting to see them all week! Sunday after church I had to take Kris to the airport so he could be at work on Monday. After dropping him off I drove though my old stomping grounds in Green Hills. Since I went to Lipscomb University and worked in Green Hills I spent lots of time in this area of Nashville before moving to Texas. I drove around, went and got some coffee at Starbucks, and just enjoyed old scenery. I love looking at all the gorgeous houses on the way out of town, and passing the church Kris and I got married in almost a year ago. I drove through Percy Warner Park where I used to run all the time. One thing that I really miss in Dallas is the Fall. I love running in Percy Warner park in the Fall...the trees that drape over the road turn bright yellow and orange and it is absolutely gorgeous!  I suppose it sounds kind of lame..but these are places I used to frequent and I miss it sometimes. I miss the tall trees and the hills.  I also stopped in Wallgreens to get a few things and I got in line behind Keith Urban, Nicole Kidman, and their little girl. Nashville is a great place to live in if you are famous...no one really cares!  I don't think anyone (other than me) was paying them any attention. I'm sure since they live there they are seen out and about all the time..but I still thought it was pretty cool! Anyway, I miss it there. I miss my family and friends obviously, but I also really miss Nashville! I am slowly developing a love for Texas but my heart will ALWAYS belong to Tennessee!
The rest of the week was spent visiting family and friends! Monday we went to my Grandparents farm to hang out with them and introduce Scout to the horses! Cameron got to pet the horses and pick tomatoes out of the garden with our Grandfather so that was fun for him. Then on Tuesday we went to my friend Heidi's house and Scout got to meet even more friends! Eryn is one of Heidi's daughter and only a few months older than Scout so we got some great photos of them together. We just had a really great time! We went to Aunt Tracy's one day and I got to swim while my mom watched the baby, we had lunch with Cheryl, Matthew, Mollie, and Ellie Kate one day, and then went to see Matthew and Mollie's new house that they just finished which is absolutely gorgeous! Then on Friday I picked up Kris and Kamden at the airport and we spent most of the afternoon at with the Cook family! We got to see their new home and spend time with Caroline, Annie, Rawlie, Wesley and Baby Thomas. I spent a lot of time with this family when I lived in Nashville so it was very special to me to have a lengthy visit with them. When I was taking pictures of the girls holding Scout I had flashbacks of babysitting them when they were babies and now they are holding my daughter! Very Sweet! That night my Grandmother made a delicious dinner for Kris's birthday and we enjoyed another night hanging out with my family. On Saturday my family threw us a baby shower and we got so many wonderful things! I still don't know how in the world we got everything to fit in the car for the ride back to Texas. Scout got to meet many more family and friends. We truly felt very loved and special and I appreciate everyone being there to meet our precious baby girl.
We had a very busy, but wonderful trip to Tennessee! I am glad I got to take my little Texean so everyone could meet her. It was very special for me to get to spend a lot of time with my sisters and their boys too! I hope Scout will be able to be as close to them as she will her cousins here in Texas. I took so many pictures that I had to put most of them in a slideshow with some music :) I also added pictures below of our trip to Abilene that we took a couple weeks ago. We have been so busy lately I didn't have a chance to add them before. Hope everyone is having a good week so far! Until next time...

Good News!

Scout's blood work that we had done last week came normal for her thyroid! We are still waiting on the PKU results but since her thyroid levels were normal the PKU results should also come back normal.(we hope) We were definitely relieved to get a good report back. I just wanted to know something because if the thyroid test were to have come back abnormal than we would need to start her on medication asap in order to prevent future developmental problems. Thank you for all the prayers!!!
I am so enjoying being at home with her! She is doing really well. She rarely ever cries but when she does it is with purpose :) She loves to snuggle! I love watching her after she eats because she grins so big in her sleep. It's pretty hilarious! We have been out of the house a couple times. On Friday Kris and I took her to dinner and then we walked around the mall for a little while. On Sunday we took her to church for the first time. She did great!!!  So far this week her and I have just been hanging out in the house. It is sooo HOT!!!! I will probably take her out later in the week but today it is 105 degrees outside so we may just stay put. It's too hot to do anything! I have gotten a lot done though. I cleaned the house, and cleaned out my closet so I feel pretty productive. Time is already going by so fast and it kind of makes me sad! I know I will be going back to work before too long and that is going to be hard. I miss her just thinking about it. I think we are really going to like her childcare though and it is right by our house so thats really good. I will post more about it later on. Hope everyone is doing well and staying cool! Later!
