Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads out there! Today was a good day. This morning we went to church, lunch, and then Kris, Kamden and I went to see Toy Story 3. It was very good! Things have been quite busy around here lately...as usual...so I am going to try and re-cap the last couple of weeks.
A couple weeks ago Kris and I finally went and took a tour of Labor and Delivery at Baylor Dallas. It was actually very informative and gave us a good idea of what to expect when the big day comes. Also we were not sure were to go as far as parking and what not so now we will not be lost in the event I go into to labor unexpectedly. Baylor Dallas was named the best hospital in DFW to have a baby and we were pretty impressed with the tour. It didn't start off so well because our tour guide got her wires crossed and forgot about us so we had to wait for about an hour before she could take us around...luckily it all worked out and the tour was great! It is a very nice hospital and their labor and delivery wing is brand new so everything is top of the line. It amazes me how things have changed so much in just the last five years even. If everything goes as planned with the birth and Scout is a healthy baby girl, she never has to leave my side from the time she is born until we leave the hospital. They call it "kangaroo care" or something like that. She will be examined in front of me, her first visit from the pediatrician will happen in our room, and Kris will give her her first bath in our room also. If you want to send the baby to the nursery you can, but if I want her to be with me the whole time that is what they encourage. Also after she is born Kris and I get to spend the first hour of her life with just us three. This is when I will try to feed her for the first time and we will get to sit and look at her until they send us up to our actual room where we will stay. You can have other people in the delivery room if you want, but we decided that we just wanted it to be us because it is such a special moment they we can share together. I am thankful that they give us some alone time right after she is born because everything gets pretty chaotic after that. There will be so much going on that the few minutes we will get with her right after she is born will be minutes we will cherish forever. I think it will be precious and it gives me chills just thinking about it right now :) Mainly because the reality is starting to sink in that in a few weeks will will be welcoming a baby into the world! Crazy! Anyway, after we are sent up to our room we will then have visitors. Both of our families are really excited so I am sure they will be waiting with open arms (literally) to see her. Several hours after she is born Kris will get to give her first bath. That is their "special" time and I only get to watch. I think it is really neat that he gets to do that. As of my last Dr.appointment I am doing really good. My weight has sort of plateaued... for now at least. Either that or I am loosing so much water weight from the constant Texas heat! My parents are going to come for the birth and are planning on staying for several days. I am looking forward to them being here. I wish my whole family could be here and it makes me sad that they won't be. That will be really hard for me. Luckily the plan is to take her to Tennessee a few weeks after she is born so everyone can see her. I have not been home in a while and the home sickness has really started to sink in. I miss my family and friends a lot! I got pretty choked up in church this morning because I started imagining them having Sunday lunch together for Fathers Day. If only Texas were in Tennessee :)
Last Sunday I had a wonderful baby shower hosted by Mandi, Kelly, Emily, April, and Jennifer. Jennifer could not be there because she is busy being a new mommy to sweet little Vince! I have been very blessed to be surrounded by amazing people since I moved to Texas. Kris's family and friends have welcomed me here with open arms and I can not say thanks enough for how good they have been to me. It definitely has made the transition easier! Mandi has made Scout the most precious first year scrap book ever! She is so creative and I can't wait to put pictures in it! Everyone has been so good to me and I truely am blessed!
The nursery is pretty much complete other than I need a few things to put on the walls. Uncle Lewis took some precious maternity pictures of us last weekend! I will get some of them printed off to put in the nursery. Other than that we just need a baby now :) Everyday I get more anxious for her arrival. I have been feeling pretty good all things considered. Bending over is a challenge so that makes work more difficult. I get tired more often. Typically on days that I work I come home and immediately have to lay down for at least an hour. Between the heat, the drive, and working for several hours I am pretty much beat when I get home. This past Saturday I managed to wash both cars and clean the house while Kris slaved outside in the sun planting flowers and doing yard work...we both payed for it this morning. I am sore and so is he! :) Oh well...we got a lot done at least. April and Ryan came over last night and we grilled out and played fast UNO ....I killed everyone! I never get that lucky..sorry guys! It was fun though!
Well...that is the update for now. I will post some new pictures below. Please keep my Grandfather and Aunt in your prayers. My Aunt Sherry just recently had back surgery and is still in a lot of discomfort so please pray she recovers soon and feels better. Also, my Grandfather will find out more about his cancer on Wednesday. He is pretty nervous so just pray it all goes well and that he gets as good of a report as possible. He seems to be feeling good so that's a positive sign at least. He is a very special man so keep him in your thoughts and prayers please.
I am off to bed now....goodnight all!
Little Mama - you look absolutely adorable - heat, Texas, work and all that aside - you are glowing. The pictures are great - would love to see the rest of them. We can't wait to meet Scout and I'm sure it will all go very smooth for you. You know we will all be walking the halls counting the minutes until your hour is up with Scout so we can meet her. I'll keep your Aunt and Grandpa in my prayers. Hang in there - not much longer!!!
ReplyDeleteYour belly is so cute! A little over 3 weeks left until we finally meet this girl. Can't wait!!
