A Father's Perspective

Hello everyone, this is Kris....I hijacked Jill's account and figured I would post the latest information.  Jill and I went to the doctor on Tuesday, and we got a glowing report.  The babies heart rate is a strong 153 beats per minute and Jill's labs came back clean.  She is 15 weeks along and everything seems to be progressing smoothly.  Jill has been sleeping better here of late and the nausea seems to have gone away for the time being.  We have been working out at LifeTime fitness the past few weeks and Jill has actually lost a pound since her last appointment.  She will tell you that it's muscle loss, but I think she's as beautiful as ever.  Our next visit with the doctor is on February 18th and we should find out the sex of the baby then.  My gut is telling me that it's going to be a girl (which I'm sure everyone will get a good laugh out of) and we have been trying to come up with names. For a boy we know that Colton is one name we will use, and for a girl, Scout.  Finding names to go with those has been difficult, but I know we will find something that fits.  I hope everyone that's following this is doing well, and we will have more updates for you as things move along.  Thanks for all of your prayers and we hope to have more good news for you soon.

The Beginning...

I swore I would never start a blog about anything. I am a fairly private person and I honestly don't feel like my life is exciting enough on a daily basis to bore the general public about  what I bought at the grocery store...or what shoes I am wearing on a specific day. I am usually the person who makes fun of blogs and thinks it's a waste of time to share so many pointless details with random people! Well...here I am...starting a blog. Not the first time I have eaten my words. I said the same thing about facebook at first. Oh well.  We decided to start this blog because Kris and I found out on November 15, 2009 that we were expecting our first child together! We had planned on getting pregnant by the end of our first year as a married couple, but as God would have it...we are pregnant a lot sooner than we had planned. We are both very excited! Since my family and most of my friends are back in Tennessee I thought it would be fun to do this so that they can be a part of our first journey together into parenthood! My due date is July 23rd. Both of our families are very excited and we feel truly blessed to be able to welcome a baby into the world!

To make a really long story short....and to give a brief background on our life...I thought I would share a little bit about how we met and how I ended up here in Texas. I met Kris December 31, 2006. Kris's best friend, Kevin Starks, married a girl I went to high school with . Kevin was nice enough to invite me to their engagement dinner on New Years Eve. I  almost didn't make it. At the time I worked for a surgical company at Vanderbilt Medical Center and was covering call for the Holiday. Earlier that day I had a 10 hour spine surgery at the Childrens Hospital. I was pretty tired and barely had time to shower, find something to wear, and make it to the lovely dinner. Kevin had surprised Becky with a proposal earlier that day and then had a party room reserved for everyone at Maggianos. Brandi, Heidi, and Cassidy had already met all the "Texas boys" several months before I was introduced to them. So there were friendships already in place and I was just trying to catch up. We had a blast that night!!! Kris will try to tell you I pursued him....I have witnesses though. That was not the case. Ha! Regardless...we were  attracted to each other and shortly after New Years Kris messaged me on myspace ( that sounds so ridiculous) then we started sending messages to each other via myspace and text messages...then that turned into 3 hour long phone conversations at night...which turned into frequent trips to Tennessee to see me. Then I celebratd my 26th birthday in Dallas and got to meet his awesome mother, Jonne and sister, Mandi. ( I had already met Josh...and then Kelly after Kris and I made a quick drive to Atlanta one weekend that he came to see me) Anyway, life was crazy but a lot of fun! Neither one of us really knew where this was going. We just knew we were in love and wanted to find out. After months of talking and debating...and going though some not so easy (or pleasant) growing pains in our relationship...we finally both decided that we wanted to really try to make this work which would mean me moving to Dallas. Kris has a nine year old son, Kamden, so if anyone was going to move..it was going to be me. And well...here I am. I found a great job doing the same thing I did in Nashville ( minus the constant travel all over the Northeast United States). I work for a great company and after living here for a year, Kris and I got engaged and then had a gorgeous wedding this past September in Tennessee. I feel like the past year and a half has been a whirlwind of constant life changes and adjustments. It hasn't always been easy! I miss my family and friends in TN so much it hurts at times. Luckily, Kris has an amazing family and wonderful friends which makes it so much easier to adjust. I have learned a lot! I have learned a lot about myself and a lot about life!
I am so thankful for this chance to become a Mother. It's so exciting and so scary all at the same time. Kris is already a wonderful Father to Kamden so I feel very confident he will do just fine. I have years, and years of experience with children! I love kids! However...having one of my own to be responsible for at all times...that is a new expreience for me. I welcome it! My sister is going to give birth to her first baby by the end of the month and I am really excited for her!!! Also, I am exicted for Kris's step-sister Jen! Her and I are about a month a part so we will have kids very close in age. That will be fun! Congrats Jen and Keith! Also Congrats to Stuart and Melissa, and Adam and Merri! Lots of babies this year! So...I guess I officially started the blog. Not every post will be this long...I promise!  Have a great Day!
